We have a combined resource of over 100 professional sports coaches, fitness instructors and swimming teachers, supported by a team of experienced sports and physical activity development officers to deliver a range of services to support schools.
We are delighted to offer schools an enhanced and coordinated programme of excellent services. This includes access to our fantastic facilities, including our swimming pools, gyms, attractions and our bespoke gymnastics arena, as well as programmes such as British Cycling’s ‘Go Ride’.

The Coaches in Schools programme delivers high quality PE and sports lessons linked to the national curriculum that aims to ensure all pupils:
All teaching within school is delivered by Level 3 Association for Physical Education (afPE) qualified coaches who also hold National Governing Bodies (NGB) level 2 coaching qualifications, which is an Ofsted recommendation.
Schemes of work for all programme elements are provided and are split into specific year groups. They can be used by teachers to assist with the PE curriculum and enrichment planning. Progress assessments are completed each half term for every pupil.
Over the Summer of 2017, City in the Community and Active Tameside worked together to establish an exciting new Primary School PE and School Sport partnership. This partnership officially launched on 1st September 2017, bringing together two experienced, high quality organisations to create an outstanding offer for the schools of Tameside.

Bikeability is cycling proficiency for the 21st century, designed to give pupils an understanding of cycling road rules. Bikeability consists of four two hour sessions run over four consecutive days, teaching cycling manoeuvres, signalling and road safety. The first day involves all pupils completing level 1 and the final three days involve successful level 1 pupils completing level 2.
The course provides:
