Active Tameside are pleased to have been shortlisted for a Human Resources Distinction (HRD) Award in the ‘Inclusion and Diversity’ category. The 8th annual HRD Awards ceremony will take place on 6th February 2018, when the winners will be announced.
The Awards celebrate innovatively designed and executed HR strategies that have contributed to outstanding business performance. Awards will be given to organisations who have showcased their excellence in people management.
The ‘Inclusion and Diversity’ category recognises organisations that promote trust, collaboration and growth, through a diversified and inclusive environment. Active Tameside has demonstrated its competence in this area through the Supported Internship Programme.
The Supported Internship Programme is an employment-based course that gives young people with learning difficulties or additional needs the opportunity to develop employability skills. As a result of the programme, Active Tameside has created a workforce that reflects the diverse range of customers which they serve and the community in which they are based.
The programme has increased the proportion of adults with a disability in employment across Tameside, moving the Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework from below the national average, to above the national average.
Other organisations that have been shortlisted for the ‘Inclusion and Diversity’ Award are: AIB, AIG, Civil Service, Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospital NHS Trust, Schneider Electric and SSE. The Awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole and will be presented by comedian, Josh Widdicombe.
