At Active Tameside we are excited to be celebrating National Fitness Day, by encouraging people to be active and appreciate the benefits of fitness and physical activity. In the run up to National Fitness Day, which will be on Wednesday 27th September this year, we would like you to tell us what fitness and being active means to you.
Tell us what fitness means to you
Look out for a whiteboard at your local Active centre over the next few months (we’ll have boards at Active Ashton, Copley, Hyde, Medlock and iTrain). We’d like you to pick up the whiteboard and a pen and write down what fitness means to you – whether it helps you to chase after your children (or grandchildren); it helps to improve your mental wellbeing or it enables you to have fun with friends while getting fit – let us know!
A member of staff will be happy to take a photo of you holding the whiteboard with your comment on. You can then either post your photo on Twitter yourself, with the following hash tags: #Fitness2Me and #BeYou and tag us: @active_tameside or you can email your photo to us at: email@example.com and we will share it on social media for you.
Prizes for the most inspiring comments
At the end of each month leading up to National Fitness Day, we will pick the most inspiring comments to win vouchers for our attractions: Total Adrenaline, Sky High Adventure or our iPlay Zones. So get your thinking cap on and let us know why you love being active and what it means to you.
The benefits of being active
The benefits of regular exercise include: having a strong heart, being a healthy weight, having a lower risk of health issues and diseases, improved wellbeing and much more!
To help you stick to a physical activity routine, try joining in with regular group exercise classes – they’re motivational and are ideal for meeting like-minded people. Working out with friends is also a great way to encourage each other – so get along to your local Active centre and celebrate fitness with us!
