Ashton Cricket Club will be hosting the Prosecco Women’s Soft Ball Cricket Festival on bank holiday Monday 28th August, from 1pm-4pm. The festival has been created with the aim of getting more women involved in the game of cricket. Soft ball cricket is a new, fun, fast social game for all abilities, which is played with a softball.
Encouraging women to get involved in cricket
Ashton Cricket Club’s Stan Adshead said, ‘With the success of the England women’s cricket team at the World Cup, now is the perfect time for us to offer this opportunity to play cricket and get more women involved locally.
‘The festival is aimed at encouraging women and their friends to come along and have a great first experience of the game. The fun and friendly games will be 6-a-side, using a softball and underarm bowling and the rules are designed to make the games fun, fast and easy to pick up.’

Festival Coordinator, Julie Durrant, said, ‘We are delighted to be working with Ashton Cricket Club to host one of our events. This event has been planned to ensure women feel supported, relaxed, not judged and learn new skills in an inclusive atmosphere. So why not come along and join in the fun?’
Prosecco Cricket attracted a lot of new women to cricket last year and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are hoping to increase this number even more in 2017.
The game is for teams of 6 players, so get your team mates together and sign up here. Each team entry costs £25. For more information about Prosecco Women’s Soft Ball Cricket, please contact Julie Durrant; phone: 07507 057 692 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
