Adventure Medlock Safety

We are pleased to be able to reopen Clip ‘n’ Climb, High Ropes and Fuel cafe at Adventure Medlock from Saturday 24th October.

Please take the time to read our new safety measures and operating procedures below, before booking.

Booking information

  • All activities must be pre-booked and paid for via our app or online. Walk-ins will not be available.
  • You must ensure that you complete an online disclaimer upon booking.
  • Only one spectator will be permitted per climber.
  • We recommend that any climber under the age of 10 brings a parent or guardian with them into the Clip ‘n’ Climb arena, whether climbing themselves or not, to assist when clipping onto the walls. Our staff are available to assist but are only permitted to assist in clipping on when absolutely necessary.
  • Maximum of 6 climbers per group booking.

Opening times

Clip ‘n’ Climb and High Ropes will open at weekends and during school holidays.

Age restrictions

Initially, Clip ‘n’ Climb and High Ropes will only be open to people under 18 years of age.

Prices

  • Clip ‘n’ Climb: £10.00 per person
  • High Ropes: £5.00 per person
  • Leap Of Faith: £2.00 per person

Clip ‘n’ Climb procedures

Arrival

  • Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your induction time. A staff member will greet you at the main reception and will lead you to your session in 2 groups at a time.
  • As this is a public area, we ask you to wear a face covering where possible.
  • We will ask everyone to sanitise their hands upon entering the building.
  • Please arrive ready to climb; no jewellery, no hoodies and wear closed toe shoes.
  • Spectators are also required to wear closed toe shoes due to the disinfection mat.
  • You will be given a wristband with a table number for the holding area and the café, as well as a locker number.
  • Please buy all Leap of Faith tickets before you enter the arena (remembering the 1.2m height requirement).

Induction

  • We will direct all climbers to use the one-way system in the arena. Please ensure you have been to the bathroom before your induction and have placed all valuable belongings inside your numbered locker.
  • All climbers and helpers will be asked to line up with a 2m distance before entering the arena.
  • When entering the arena, climbers and helpers will be asked to sanitise again using the hand sanitising station and the disinfection mat for your shoes.
  • If spectators are not helping, there will be a holding area where spectators will sit in their numbered chair until the café area is cleaned and sanitised from the previous session. This will be in the bouldering area.
  • Staff will be directing climbers to the right size harness and will be instructing climbers on how to fasten harnesses.
  • Staff will be wearing gloves and face coverings to check harnesses not apply harnesses, this will be done by the climbers and helpers with the staff’s assistance.

Session times

  • 09:15-10:30 (20 spaces max)
  • 10.45-12:00 (20 spaces max)
  • 12:15–13:30 (20 spaces max)
  • 13.45-15:00 (20 spaces max)
  • 15:15-16:30 (20 spaces max)

Customers will be allowed to enter the building 10 minutes before their session to collect wristbands and to put belongings into their numbered locker in staggered groups. There will then be a 15-minute induction where staff will go through the safety briefing.

Your climbing session

  • Sessions last for 75 minutes. The first 15 minutes will be for the safety briefing, harness fitting and sanitising. This will be followed by a 55-minute clip ‘n’ climb session, then 5 minutes for a debrief and the removal of harnesses.
  • Once in the arena, we advise climbers to stay in the area for your full session time, only leaving the area if absolutely necessary. If you must leave the area, all harnesses must be taken off.
  • If small children have to attend, they must be carried inside the arena. No children should be walking around the arena.
  • Spectators can sit in the holding area on their numbered chairs and wait patiently until moved to the café area, if not assisting with clipping on and off.
  • Our staff are only there to verbally assist with the Bornack clips and are only allowed to physically assist where absolutely necessary. We advise helpers to participate in the induction carefully, so they can assist their climbers in order to reduce contact with the staff.
  • The Leap of Faith will be available to use – these tickets should be purchased on the way in and have to be redeemed before the 55-minute session ends. There will be no exceptions or refunds.
  • All our staff will be wearing PPE where appropriate and will still be able to perform rescues and first aid where necessary.

Rescues

  • Staff will be dealing with rescues as normal and will try to verbally assist and educate the climber down the wall.
  • Where absolutely necessary, staff will climb up the wall alongside the climber while clipped onto the wall. Failing that, staff will be wearing PPE to use the rope to assist the climber off the wall.

At the end of the session

  • After your 55 minutes of climbing you will be asked to remove your harness and place it in one of the buckets provided, ready for sanitation.
  • When exiting, you will be asked to sanitise your hands and your feet using the stations on the way out.
  • You can order food from the café but you will be asked to sit on the table number that matches your locker and wristband. All food will be table service only.

High Ropes procedures

Arrival

  • Spectators are also required to wear closed toe shoes due to the disinfection mat. Spectators will be helping when putting on harnesses, not clipping on and off.
  • You will be given a wristband with a table number for the holding area and the café, as well as a locker number.

  • Climbers will then be directed up the stairs to the High Ropes and will be asked to use the disinfection mat for their shoes.
  • All spectators will then be directed to sit on their numbered chair in the holding area until the café area is cleaned from the previous session.

Your High Ropes session

  • Once on the High Ropes we advise you to stay on them for your full session time, only leaving the High Ropes if absolutely necessary. If you must leave, all harnesses must be taken off.
  • All our staff will be wearing PPE where appropriate and will still be able to perform rescues and first aid where necessary.
  • Due to social distancing, no spectators will be allowed past the High Ropes gates and up the stairs.

Rescues

  • Staff will be dealing with rescues as normal and will try to verbally assist and educate the climber down across the track.
  • Where absolutely necessary, staff will use the track to help the climber back to the start whilst wearing PPE.

End of your session

  • After your 55-minute session, you will be asked to remove your harness and place it in one of the buckets provided ready for sanitation.
  • When exiting, you will be asked to sanitise your hands and your feet using the stations on the way down the stairs.
  • You can order food from the café but you will be asked to sit on the table number that matches your locker and wristband. All food will be table service only.

Cleaning

Harnesses

  • The keys on the harnesses will be cleaned in between sessions.
  • The full harness will be washed on a Monday and will be dried ready for the following weekend.

Walls

  • The walls will be cleaned once a day using the fogging machine.
  • In between every session the clips and the keys will be cleaned.

Cafe

  • Due to a reduction in capacity, there should be enough tables for all spectators. When arriving for your activity, you will be given a wristband and a number that correspond with your table number.
  • A staff member will tell you when the table is ready so you can move from the holding area to your numbered table, so that you can pre-order your food.
  • We will be offering a reduced menu.
  • We ask that all orders are placed half an hour before your session ends, to ensure food can be prepared and cooked ready for your session to finish.
  • The cafe will be table service only.
  • All our food and drinks will be served in a disposable box/cup and you will be given a bag with your order. When finished at your table, please place all your rubbish in the bag and place the bag in the bin. This is to protect our staff and reduce contact with your rubbish.
  • Our staff will be cleaning tables on a regular basis.
  • Due to reduced capacity, we ask that you eat and clear your table within 45 minutes after your session to ensure we have enough time to sanitise before the next customers arrive.
