Procedures for attending gymnastics sessions

We would like to welcome you back to Active Tameside for your gymnastics sessions. We appreciate that, for many of you, this is a worrying time and a lot of things have changed in the world. We want to make you feel as comfortable as we can with the changes that we have made to centres, and the way your lessons will operate.

As part of our commitment to keeping you safe, we have:

  • Invested in state-of-the-art fogging machines for our centres.
  • Increased the cleaning regimes by our centre teams.
  • Introduced in-centre signage and one-way systems around our centres to help you move around safely.
  • Provided sanitisation stations throughout our centres for you to use.
  • Provided comprehensive Health and Safety training for our staff prior to opening, providing PPE where necessary and putting protective screens in place.

We kindly ask that you follow these procedures:

  • Before setting off, please make sure your child is ‘gym-ready’ (suitable clothing and hair tied up). This is due to our changing rooms not being open.
  • Spectating is not allowed and parents/carers must stay outside of the centre, however parents must be on-site and contactable.
  • Coaches will collect gymnasts at the entrance. There all yellow stars for the gymnasts to stand on while queuing for upstairs gymnastics. The yellow lines are for the main gymnastics hall.
  • Hands must be sanitised on entering and leaving the building.
  • It is essential that all gymnasts’ emergency contact information is up to date.
  • When you arrive at the centre, please arrive 5 minutes before the start of your lesson. Due to social distancing, if you arrive too early you will need to wait in your car.
  • The coach will bring the child back to the door you drop your child off at.
  • Once the children have returned to you, the teacher’s time is very precious and to ensure they can deliver your session and clean the hall before the next session; we kindly ask you not to hold the teacher up at the door. If you need to discuss anything with the teacher, they will be more than happy to give you a call when they come out of the hall. Please email: and a coach will contact you.
  • Please be aware that children have been out of gymnastics sessions for a long time, so upon their return we will initially be concentrating on conditioning and flexibility.
  • Children must be toilet trained and also have been to the toilet before entering the centre.
  • Children must be able to take their own shoes and sock off. Trampoline socks are needed for trampoline sessions.
  • Children should bring a washable bag (pump bag preferably) for shoes, socks etc.
  • No drinks allowed in the hall.
  • No jewellery (earrings) will be allowed and you must provide your own plasters.
  • To ensure safe bubble management each week, your child will focus on 2 gymnastics disciplines. This will rotate on a 4-week basis. For example: week 1 – floor and beams; week 2 –  vault, track and bar; week 3 – conditioning room and the trampoline; week 4 – upstairs gym hall (mixed equipment room). During this time, we will be working on bringing your child back to where they were pre-lockdown.

Thank you for your understanding. We are really looking forward to seeing you again soon.
