Assistant Director of Health & Social Outcomes
Andy has worked in Tameside for over 18 years within Sports Development, firstly starting as a Sports Coach, delivering the PE national curriculum in local primary schools then moving on to community sports development, working with all Tameside sports clubs to develop club structures and sustainability, through various programmes and interventions. This then led him to his current role.
Within his current portfolio of work, Andy has responsibilities for the following strands:
PE coaches in schools programme, delivery of high quality PE through 25 PE and school sport educators in local Tameside and High Peak primary schools.
Bikeability – delivery of the Bikeability programme to Tameside schools at level one and two.
School swimming – delivery of school swimming provision to 80 primary schools.
Swim School – delivery of the STA learn to swim private lesson programme to over 4,000 members across all 5 Aquatics sites.
Gymnastics – delivery of the British Gymnastics programme to over 1,200 members over three Active Tameside sites.
Sports Club Development – supporting local Tameside sports clubs in various aspects of community club development along with the organisation of the annual Tameside sports awards which celebrates the achievements of the Tameside sporting community.
Early Years – co-ordination and link with public health for the move and play sessions within Active Tameside centres.
