Will you be charging for car parking?

Tameside Wellness Centre – Denton’s car park will have 109 parking bays available on a ‘Pay and Display’ system and a coach/bus bay. It will operate as a Zone 1 parking facility, with charges of 50p for up to half-an-hour, £1 for 3 hours, £2 for all day, and £1 for 6pm to midnight and 8am to 6pm on a Sunday. The maximum period for which a vehicle may wait is 10 hours.

All users of Tameside Wellness Centre – Denton are eligible for a car park discount of 90p from their £1 for 3 hours’ parking. To obtain your refund, simply exchange your duplicate car park ticket at the front desk.

At this point in time, although we are aspiring to have contactless technology very soon, the current machines take cash only and you will need to input your number plate at the machine.

Car parking charges are needed to encourage people to use public transport, cycle or walk and help tackle congestion, pollution and encourage residents to be more active. The site has secure cycle storage and is well served by a number of bus routes. The more vehicles we can encourage from being driven, the cleaner the air we all breathe and the healthier the environment we live in, as befits the ethos of a wellness centre.

As a town centre site, the charges will also prevent users of other car parks from filling the centre’s car park for free, while Zone 1 parking provides a low cost parking solution for those who do need to use their vehicle, without having a detrimental impact on the number of visitors.

The parking system will be managed and regulated by Tameside Council to ensure sufficient parking places for visitors to the site, with the income used to offset the cost of managing and monitoring the site.

Will there be parking charges for blue badge holders?

The same standard charges will apply as with all other Tameside pay and display car parks for blue badge holders. More information can be found here.
